Cross out singles
We learned how to play this game the second week of school. Ask your child to play! Encourage your child to solve the addition problems using a strategy they are comfortable with.
Need: 1 die, pencil, and game board for each player
Directions:
1. Take turns rolling a die and recording the number in a square on your game board.
2. When all squares are filled in, add up the numbers in each row horizontally, vertically, and diagonally. Record the sum in the circle next to the row.
3. When all sums have been recorded in the circles, cross out any sums that only appear once.
4. Add up the remaining sums to find the total score for the round.
5. Record the round total at the bottom.
6. Repeat for rounds 2 and 3.
7. Add the totals for the 3 rounds together. The player with the highest score is the winner.
