- Write addition and subtraction word problems about things your child is interested in. Encourage your child to write their own word problems to solve as well!
Ex: Maggie had 365 Pokemon cards. She bought 42 more. How many Pokemon cards does Maggie have now? - Write number sentences with blanks for your child to fill in. When writing the problems, have blanks in different spots of the number sentence.
Here are some examples of different ways to vary the number sentences.
1. ____ = 30 + 48
2. 78 = ____ + 48
3. 78 = 30 + ___
4. ___ + 48 = 78
5. 30 + 48 = ___
6. 30 + ___ = 78
Play these games with your child to practice their addition and subtraction skills. Let your child show you their strategies for solving these problems!
